Softball Recap: Garland Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Garland fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Sachse on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 11-10. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Owls, who until this matchup were averaging four runs allowed.

Payton Dean made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Christine Porras was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Dean wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Garland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in nine consecutive games.

Garland's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-5-1. As for Sachse, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season.

Garland will welcome South Garland at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Garland is facing South Garland at the right time seeing as South Garland is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Sachse, they have already played their next matchup, a 9-4 win against Wylie on the 29th.
