Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Avalon). They pulled ahead with a 38-37 photo finish over the Bynum Bulldogs on Saturday. The win was some much needed relief for the Eagles as it spelled an end to their seven-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brooklyn Compean, who posted 19 points. Compean has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Madi Westmoreland, who put up seven points in addition to seven assists and five boards.

Avalon's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-6. As for Bynum, their loss dropped their record down to 13-7.

Avalon has already played their next match (against Kopperl), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Bynum didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 40-14 win against Covington on the 14th.
