St. Edward has gone 7-0 against Morningside Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The St. Edward's Pirates will welcome the Morningside Academy Eagles at 6:30 p.m. St. Edward's is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.6 points per game this season.
Last Friday, St. Edward's ended up a good deal behind John Carroll Catholic and lost 61-42.

St. Edward's might have lost, but man, Cody Simmonds was a machine: he dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. That's the most points Simmonds has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayzere Cannon, who posted eight points and five rebounds.
Even though they lost, St. Edward's smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in eight consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Morningside Academy). They simply couldn't be stopped on Monday as they easily beat Dreyfoos School of the Arts 84-45. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 20 points or more this season.
Morningside Academy's win came from a few key players St. Edward's will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was AJ Chang, who went 7 of 11 on his way to 20 points along with eight boards and seven assists. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 14 games he's played. Stephen Moss was another key player, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 11 boards.
The win (which was Morningside Academy's third in a row) raised their record to 9-6. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.3 points per game. As for St. Edward's, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-3.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: St. Edward's has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 35.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Morningside Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.5 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
St. Edward's was able to grind out a solid victory over Morningside Academy when the teams last played back in February of 2023, winning 54-47. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Morningside Academy's Darious Moore, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 22 points along with six assists and three steals. Now that he won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be easier for St. Edward's to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
