After a string of six wins, the North Star Cougars's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 97-60 loss at the hands of Berlin Brothersvalley. North Star was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-28.
North Star's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ethan Smith, who scored 14 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Smith has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Weimer, who scored 20 points.
North Star's loss dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Berlin Brothersvalley, they pushed their record up to 12-1 with that victory, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season.
North Star will head out on the road to take on Forest Hills at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Forest Hills has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 417 points over their last six matches. As for Berlin Brothersvalley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Williamsburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Williamsburg will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 243rd, while Berlin Brothersvalley is ranked 82nd).
