Basketball Recap: Lowry Drops Highest Score of Season Against Mcqueen

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lowry). They managed an 83-78 win over the McQueen Lancers on Thursday. For the Buckaroos, this counts as revenge for the 62-31 victory the Lancers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.

Lowry had a senior duo take command as Matthew Casalez went 7 of 17 on his way to 22 points along with five boards and five steals and Jaden Jimenez dropped a double-double on 27 points and 11 rebounds. Those 27 points gave Jimenez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayd Garner, who posted ten points.

When it comes to explaining why McQueen lost, don't look at Aj Spevak. Despite the final result, he went 8 of 16 on his way to 23 points and eight rebounds. Spevak is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Abram Carpenter was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds.

Lowry's record is now 3-6. As for McQueen, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Sparks the next time they take the court. McQueen will head out to face Sparks at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Lowry will play them later in the day, at 11:00 a.m.
