Baseball Recap: Bishop Kelly's Winning Streak Snapped at Seven Games

It was a good run, but Bishop Kelly unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Vallivue Falcons by a score of 3-2. The Knights were red-hot at the plate heading into the contest (they scored no less than ten runs in the four matches prior), but the Falcons' pitcher proved too tough.

Luca Quilici spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on one hit and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Bishop Kelly saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ayden Boyd, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Bishop Kelly's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 8-8. As for Vallivue, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-1.

Coincidentally, Bishop Kelly and Vallivue will both be playing Emmett the next time they take the field. The Knights will head out to face the Huskies at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Falcons will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
