The Aransas Pass Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They took a hard 49-34 fall against Incarnate Word Academy. While losing is never fun, Aransas Pass can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1198th, while Incarnate Word Academy is ranked 332nd).
Among those leading the charge was Emma Romanczyk, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Lily Herandez, who scored 12 points.
Aransas Pass has fallen quite a ways from their 26-12 record last season and are now at 2-6. As for Incarnate Word Academy, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Aransas Pass is on the road again on Friday and play against Gregory-Portland at 6:30 p.m. on December 15th. Incarnate Word Academy will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on San Diego at 3:00 p.m. on December 20th.
