Mayfield had already won 21 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18 points) and they went ahead and made it 22 on Wednesday. They enjoyed a cozy 46-32 win over the Organ Mountain Knights. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while the Knights are ranked 54th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mayfield was led to victory by Jazlene Ruiz and Ceanna Mckines. Ruiz went 6-for-8 en route to 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals, while Mckines shot 45% from the field on her way to 12 points and three steals. Ruiz has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Lorrena Viarreal was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Mayfield smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in 13 consecutive matches.

Organ Mountain's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Siena Gonzales, who posted 11 points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Silva, who had six points.

Mayfield pushed their record up to 23-3 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.3 points on average over those games. As for Organ Mountain, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-19 record this season.

Mayfield has already played their next contest, a 51-42 win against Las Cruces on the 28th. Organ Mountain does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
