Two dominant guards in Mary Portwood and Bri Madore are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Parrish Community Bulls's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Cypress Lake Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on February 14th. Hopefully Parrish Community is not getting complacent considering they own a much higher rank in Florida (they are ranked 93rd, while Cypress Lake is ranked 337th).
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Parrish Community walked away with it. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Blue Streaks 59-32 on the road. That 27 point margin sets a new team best for Parrish Community this season.
Parrish Community had a senior duo take command as Sarah Decker dropped a double-double on 22 points and 19 rebounds and Portwood scored 19 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaiyle Lacy, who scored seven points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Cypress Lake had to suffer through a rough 66-34 loss at the hands of Port Charlotte. Cypress Lake has not had much luck with Port Charlotte recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Cypress Lake saw an underclassman step up: Lilly Witz scored 14 points.
Parrish Community is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. As for Cypress Lake, they dropped their record down to 16-9 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road.
