On Saturday, things could have been worse for Cedar Grove, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 63-46 loss to Mays. While losing is never fun, Cedar Grove can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 119th, while Mays is ranked sixth).
Despite the defeat, Cedar Grove saw an underclassman step up: Emmanuel Green scored 18 points. Green scored a full 39.1% of Cedar Grove's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Dontavius Stringfield, who scored 10 points.
Derron Lindsey ii continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Mays, shooting 8-for-11 from deep and dropping a double-double on 26 points and 10 assists. The matchup was Lindsey ii's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Baldwin-Hughes , who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 10 assists.
Cedar Grove's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Mays, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cedar Grove will take on Lithonia at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mays will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Jackson at 7:30 p.m. on December 8th.
