The Galena Pirates stacked a 12th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Wednesday. They claimed a resounding 53-26 victory over River Ridge/Scales Mound at home. The win was familiar territory for Galena who now have eight in a row.
Galena's win was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-1. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 27.3 points. As for River Ridge/Scales Mound, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 18-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Galena will face off against the Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. East Dubuque will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 283rd, while the Pirates are ranked 47th). River Ridge/Scales Mound will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Blackhawks at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Hopefully Stockton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Wednesday.
