The Durant Cougars and the Robinson Knights will face off at 8:00 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Durant has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 286 points over their last four games.
Even though King scored an imposing 59 points on Wednesday, Durant still came out on top. Durant was the clear victor by a 82-59 margin over King. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Durant has posted since December 28, 2023.
Austin White continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 7 for 15 from beyond the arc en route to 35 points and 6 assists. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last five times he's played. Caden Bokor was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven assists and three steals.
Meanwhile, Robinson pushed their score all the way to 56 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 69-56 to Plant City. While losing is never fun, Robinson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 267th, while Plant City is ranked 106th).
Robinson's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of LaJesse Harrold, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds, and Jordan Mickens who scored 17 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Zyon Floyd, who scored five points.
Durant has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. As for Robinson, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-9.
Fans should be in for an exciting game on Friday as the two teams are among the highest scoring teams in the league right now. Durant hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 63.9 points per game. However, it's not like Robinson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 61.3 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Durant came up short against Robinson when the teams last played back in December of 2018, falling 74-63. Thankfully for Durant, Jovani Saturno (who went 6 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 29 points and 3 assists) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
