The Owasso Rams had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They came out on top against Edmond Memorial by a score of 49-42. Given Owasso's advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma football rankings (they are ranked ninth, while Edmond Memorial is ranked 67th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jayson Moll was a one-man wrecking crew for Owasso as he rushed for 175 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. J'Kharri Thomas also helped out with an impressive 117 receiving yards.
When it comes to explaining why Edmond Memorial lost, one person who can't be blamed is David McComb. Despite the final result, he threw for 325 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 134 yards and a touchdown on only five carries. Nick Booker was another key contributor, gaining 107 total yards and two touchdowns.
Owasso's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Edmond Memorial, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Owasso will take on Edmond Santa Fe at 7:30 p.m. on October 27th. As for Edmond Memorial, they will play host again and welcome Union, where Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. Union knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Edmond Memorial likes a good challenge.
