If the Salpointe Catholic Lancers were riding high off their 56-16 takedown of the Pueblo Warriors last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Salpointe Catholic took a 52-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cienega. It was the first time this season that Salpointe Catholic let down their fans at home.
Several Lancers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Logan Martinez, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Bobby Smith, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Salpointe Catholic's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-7. As for Cienega, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-7.
Salpointe Catholic will be playing at home against Flowing Wells at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Flowing Wells has now lost 17 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 22. As for Cienega, they will head out on the road to square off against Nogales at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Nogales focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Tuesday.
