The Griffith Panthers lost against the La Porte Slicers back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Griffith took a 54-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of La Porte. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Griffith in their matchups with La Porte: they've now lost three in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Griffith lost, one person who can't be blamed is Savon Miles. Despite the final result, he scored 14 points. The game was Miles' third in a row with at least ten points. Cameron Chandler was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead La Porte to victory, but perhaps none more so than Malik Corley, who scored 23 points along with five rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Corley has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylan Kieszkowski, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Griffith has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season. As for La Porte, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Griffith will head out on the road to face off against Calumet New Tech at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Calumet New Tech focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Tuesday. La Porte won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Knox at 6:30 p.m. on December 16th.
