6A District 5 recap September 4, 2013
Citrus scaled the state rankings by moving to 73 from 99 this week, the biggest jump in 6A District 5. The Hurricanes climbed the ranks as a result of besting Springstead 42-14.
Gainesville fell to Columbia 49-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Lake Weir's dynamic duo of Cutler Blackburn and Antwane Downs proved to be unstoppable against Lake Minneola, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Blackburn threw for 80 yards and Downs had 31 yards receiving. Ja'real Hamilton helped Lake Weir's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 31 yards.
The Hurricanes' dynamic duo of Blackburn and Downs proved tough for the Hawks to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Downs was the best wideout in the league this week as Lake Weir lost to Lake Minneola.
Kenny Tucker was the best running back in the league this week. In 14 carries, he ran for 53 yards as Forest fell to Corey Brinson's team. Jaylon Gadson also contributed to the rushing game with 21 yards on the ground.
Blackburn put up the best numbers in passing as the Hurricanes fell to the Hawks.
Gadson was a passing and rushing force as the Wildcats fell to North Marion.
The leading receiver in the league this season is Jamaal Williams. The Forest star has 2 catches for 36 yards.
Citrus made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 989 from 1,348. The improvement was the result of 42-14 victory over the Eagles last week.
