Softball Recap: Credo Comes Up Short

After flying high against Laytonville last Thursday, Credo came back down to earth. The Gryphon lost 23-8 to the Willits Wolverines on Friday. The Gryphon's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Credo saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aliana Martinez, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Credo's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 3-9. As for Willits, the win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Credo will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Calistoga at 4:00 p.m. on the 14th. As for Willits, they will square off against Tomales at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Braves have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.2 runs per game on average), something the Wolverines will no doubt try to take advantage of.
