Yorktown is 9-1 against New Castle since May of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Tigers will face off against the Trojans at 5:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Yorktown has four straight victories, New Castle has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Friday, Yorktown earned a 9-6 win over Pendleton Heights.
Olivia Jones spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on 13 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Abbey Booher was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emma Reynolds, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Yorktown kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, New Castle came up short against Knightstown on Friday and fell 5-1.
Sydney Dobbs put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one double.
Dobbs wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Alyssa Burris, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.
Yorktown's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for New Castle, they now have a losing record of 10-11.
New Castle's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Yorktown has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .464. It's a different story for New Castle, though, as they've only averaged .354. Will they be able to contain Yorktown's hitters?
Everything went Yorktown's way against New Castle in their previous meeting on Saturday, as Yorktown made off with a 13-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
