The Fort Jennings Musketeers will head out on the road to face off against the Jefferson Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Fort Jennings is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
Fort Jennings took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-2 margin over Continental. The victory continues a trend for the Musketeers in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now won five in a row.
Owen Calvelage was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs. Fort Jennings is 5-1 when Calvelage posts two or more runs, but 3-4 otherwise.

In other batting news, Calvin Menke was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Adam Hoersten, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Fort Jennings always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Continental only posted an OBP of .276.
Meanwhile, Jefferson posted their closest win since May 6, 2024 on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Ada 6-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.
Jaxon Rahrig was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season.
Fort Jennings pushed their record up to 8-5 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Jefferson, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 2-13.
Jefferson's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Fort Jennings hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .326. It's a different story for Jefferson, though, as they've only averaged .257. Will they be able to contain Fort Jennings' hitters?
Fort Jennings skirted past Jefferson 4-2 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Musketeers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
