The Penfield Patriots are taking a road trip to challenge the Webster Thomas Titans at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Penfield comes in on three and Webster Thomas on 12.
Penfield is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Brighton on Saturday as they made off with a 10-1 victory. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Patriots with their most commanding win of the season.
Patrick Emling made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Penfield's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 6-14 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Jacob Natale was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Matt Scibienski was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
The home team had won the previous two meetings between Webster Thomas and Gates Chili, and Webster Thomas kept the tradition alive. The Titans blew past the Spartans 16-1 on Saturday. The Titans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by six runs or more this season.
Jacob Dicicco looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, AJ LaLoggia and Tyler Estelle did most of the damage at the plate: LaLoggia went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple, while Estelle got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Cameron Guffey, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Webster Thomas always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .535. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Webster Thomas pushed their record up to 16-5 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Penfield, their record is now 8-15.
Penfield couldn't quite get it done against Webster Thomas in their previous meeting on May 9th as they fell 8-3. Can the Patriots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
