With a playoff win on the line, North Schuylkill rose to the challenge on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Blue Mountain Eagles as they made off with a 14-4 win. Considering the Spartans have won 11 matchups by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Brigid Flynn made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, North Schuylkill got a massive performance out of Lyza Holmes, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave Holmes a new career-high. Jordanna Frie was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
North Schuylkill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Blue Mountain only posted an OBP of .150.
The victory made it two in a row for North Schuylkill and bumps their season record up to 14-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Blue Mountain, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-7.
