Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only The Westminster Academy Lions walked away with it. Everything went their way against NSU University on Thursday as Westminster Academy made off with a 41-20 win. Considering Westminster Academy has won six matches by more than 20 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Westminster Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Anthony Barbar, who threw for 181 yards and four touchdowns on only ten passes, and also punched in a rushing score. Westminster Academy also got a significant boost from Alonso Collins, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 139 yards.
Several Sharks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jacques Dixson, who rushed for 98 yards and a touchdown. Ian Donahue also helped out as he racked up 111 receiving yards.
The win (which was Westminster Academy's third in a row) raised their record to 9-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 33.3 points per game. As for NSU University, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-1.
Westminster Academy will square off against Master's Academy at 7:00 p.m. on November 11th. NSU University does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
