Make it eight blowout wins for the Indianapolis Shortridge Blue Devils this season. They blew past Herron, posting a 54-18 win at home. The victory was nothing new for Indianapolis Shortridge as they're now sitting on three straight.
Indianapolis Shortridge's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jocelyn Eskew, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and seven assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Keara Stewart, who scored 14 points along with five steals.
Herron's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Maya Alexis, who scored three points along with eight rebounds and four steals, and Ava Madrazo who scored nine points. Alexis is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played.
Even though they lost, Herron smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Indianapolis Shortridge only pulled down nine offensive rebounds.
Indianapolis Shortridge's win bumped their record up to 13-8. As for Herron, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Indianapolis Shortridge won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Christel House at 6:00 p.m. on January 24th. Hopefully Christel House focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Monday. As for Herron, they will head out on the road to face off against Indianapolis Crispus Attucks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
