The Palm Desert Aztecs waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins but they left with three. They took down Rancho Mirage 72-54. That's another feather in the cap for Palm Desert, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Palm Desert's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Coby Christensen, who dropped a double-double on 30 points and 11 rebounds. Christensen is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Wil Wilson, who scored 15 points.
Palm Desert has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record this season. As for Rancho Mirage, they dropped their record down to 18-8 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
Palm Desert will take on Shadow Hills at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Shadow Hills will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 740th, while Palm Desert is ranked 251st). As for Rancho Mirage, they will head out on the road to take on La Quinta at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. La Quinta has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 27.
