Baseball Recap: Dominican's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Dominican's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They walked away with a 7-4 victory over the West Allis Central Bulldogs. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Knights as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Tyler Feldbruegge made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Dominican let Colin Flattery and Michael Perez-Cruz run wild. Flattery went 2-for-3 with one run and one double, while Perez-Cruz went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Perez-Cruz is becoming a predictor of Dominican's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 5-1 (and 1-6 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Joseph Cabral, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

Dominican hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Allis Central struck out seven times.

Dominican's record is now 6-7. As for West Allis Central, they dropped their record down to 1-11 with the loss, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Dominican will challenge St. Joseph at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lancers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Knights' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for West Allis Central, they will face off against Pewaukee at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
