The Bloomfield Bees's game last Tuesday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They walked away with a 49-42 win over Wausa. This was payback for Bloomfield, who suffered a 44-33 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Bloomfield was led to victory by Kora Poppe and Madison Abbenhaus. Poppe scored 17 points, while Abbenhaus scored 21 points. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Abbenhaus has scored at least 25% of Bloomfield's points.
Despite the loss, Wausa still got an impressive performance from Sienna West, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that West pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Elle Brazel, who scored eight points.
Even though they lost, Wausa were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Bloomfield's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Wausa, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.
Bloomfield won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Boyd County at 5:45 p.m. on December 30th. Boyd County is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. Wausa will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Neligh-Oakdale on January 9, 2024.
