The Decatur Community Red Devils can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They came out on top against Ness City by a score of 36-27. The win was just what Decatur Community needed coming off of a 63-32 loss in their prior game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Decatur Community to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brylee Minnick, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kamryn Oien, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Despite the loss, Ness City still got an impressive performance from Danae Rodriguez, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and four steals. Rodriguez has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlyn Tillitson, who scored six points along with nine rebounds.
Even though they lost, Ness City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Decatur Community only pulled down seven offensive rebounds.
Decatur Community now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Ness City, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.
Decatur Community will play host again and welcome Quinter, where tip off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Ness City, they will head out on the road to challenge St. Francis on Friday. St. Francis is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
