Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 26 to 9 on the offensive boards, a fact the River Valley Vikings proved on Tuesday. They strolled past Ridgemont with points to spare, taking the game 53-35. Given River Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 282nd, while the Golden Gophers are ranked 775th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
River Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lexie Hecker, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Halle Snyder, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Anna Ramsey and Jayda Dondrea certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Ramsey scored 23 points along with three blocks and two steals, while Dondrea scored eight points along with ten rebounds and two blocks. Ramsey continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Laney Elsasser, who scored four points.
River Valley has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a massive bump to their 10-9 record this season. As for Ridgemont, their loss dropped their record down to 2-14.
River Valley will be playing at home against the Tigers at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Galion is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Ridgemont, they will head out on the road to square off against the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. North Baltimore has now lost 14 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 30.
