Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fairmont). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the St. Pauls Bulldogs 71-39. Given the Golden Tornadoes' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 135th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 528th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Fairmont's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for St. Pauls, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fairmont will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Red Springs at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for St. Pauls, they will be taking part in a tournament against West Forsyth at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday.
