Maple Grove and the Pirates are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2015, but not for long. The Maple Grove Red Dragons will head out on the road to face off against the Clymer Central Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
Back in January, Maple Grove lost to the Wolverines on the road by a decisive 53-36 margin.
Meanwhile, Clymer Central had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, they made off with a 51-50 win over Panama. Given Clymer Central's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 185th, while the Panthers are ranked 457th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Alexys Neckers continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 40 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Nyweide, who scored seven points.
Maple Grove's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Clymer Central, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season.
Maple Grove lost to the Pirates on the road by a decisive 53-37 margin in their previous meeting back in January. Can Maple Grove avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
