After a string of eight wins, the Sammamish RedHawks's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 79-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of Renton. The game was a 31-31 toss-up at halftime, but Sammamish couldn't quite close it out.
Sammamish lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Rakin Showki, who scored 19 points. Showki hasn't dropped below 17 points for three straight games. Keith Kariuki was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Renton was led to victory by Dennis Johnson III and Daniel Jackson jr.. Johnson III dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds, while Jackson jr. dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds. Johnson III has been hot recently, having posted 18 or more points the last 11 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Agosto, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Sammamish's loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-5. As for Renton, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-6.
Sammamish will head out on the road to take on the Eagles at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Lindbergh focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 last Monday. Renton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
