After two games on the road, Glenn is heading back home. They will take on the Parkland Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Last Friday, things could have been worse for Glenn, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 52-36 loss to East Forsyth. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Glenn in their matchups with East Forsyth: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the loss, Glenn saw an underclassman step up: Noni Jones dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jones has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Zyire Murphy, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Glenn struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Parkland suffered their biggest loss since December 4, 2023 on Wednesday. Their rough 73-53 defeat to Mount Tabor might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Parkland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 213th, while Mount Tabor is ranked 28th).
Joshua Moore put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored nine points along with eight rebounds and five assists. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last nine games he's played. SaMaurie Moses was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with two steals.
Glenn bumped their record down to 6-9 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Parkland, their loss dropped their record down to 8-8.
Wednesday's matchup is shaping up to be a scrappy matchup: Glenn have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 30.7 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Parkland, though, as they've been averaging only 28.4 rebounds per game. Given Glenn's sizeable advantage in that area, Parkland will need to find a way to close that gap.
Glenn won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, slipping by Parkland 54-53. Will Glenn repeat their success, or does Parkland have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
