The St. Laurence Vikings will take on the Romeoville Spartans at 6:00  p.m.  on Wednesday.
St. Laurence is probably headed into the  matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Saint Ignatius College Prep just ended the team's  three-match winning streak  on Thursday. They fell just short of the Wolfpack by a score of  2-1. While the Vikings didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Wolfpack  25-18 in the first  set.
 St. Laurence started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The match finished with set scores of 18-25, 25-20,  25-20.
 Despite the  loss, St. Laurence got top-tier performance from   Leah Romano, who  had 20  digs and four  assists.
Meanwhile,  there's no place like home for Romeoville, who bounced back after a  loss on the road  on Saturday. They came out on top against Plainfield Central by a score of  2-0  on Tuesday. The  win continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won four in a row.
 Romeoville easily took the first set, but they let things get interesting in the other. The final score came out to 25-14,  25-20.
 St. Laurence's defeat dropped their record down to 19-8. As for Romeoville, the  victory was their first  at home , bumping their record up to 7-20.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of  Wednesday's  contest:  St. Laurence has really dialed in their serving  this season,  having  averaged 6.4  aces per game. However, it's not like Romeoville struggles in that department as   they've been averaging 4.7  aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
 St. Laurence came up short against Romeoville when the teams last played  back in September of 2023, falling  2-0. Can the Vikings avenge their  loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
