Morehead is 1-9 against McMichael since March of 2023 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Panthers will challenge the Phoenix at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Morehead will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Bartlett Yancey on Monday. The Panthers' pitchers stepped up to hand the Buccaneers a 15-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Buccaneers: they've now won three in a row.
Brooklynn Wray made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Wray was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Lily Clark was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Abigail Garrett, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Morehead always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .765. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, McMichael made easy work of Morehead and carried off a 14-0 win.
Like Morehead, McMichael also got a great game from a two-way player: Lindsay Redmon. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. Redmon has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI.
In other batting news, McMichael got a massive performance out of Kora Ingle, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and two RBI. Olivia Wilson was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.
Morehead's record is now 6-9. As for McMichael, their record now sits at 18-3.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Morehead hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .325. However, it's not like McMichael struggles in that department as they've averaged .408. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Morehead suffered a grim 14-0 defeat to McMichael in their previous matchup on Friday. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
