Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lone Peak). They put the hurt on the Corner Canyon Chargers with a sharp 26-6 win on Monday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Knights needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Clara Gourley made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Gourley was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with four runs, two triples, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Lone Peak got a massive performance out of Maci Koch, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs. The dominant performance also gave Koch a new career-high in RBI (five). Ruby Nelson was another key player, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with one home run, five runs, and two stolen bases.
Lone Peak kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Lone Peak's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-15. As for Corner Canyon, they dropped their record down to 3-24 with the loss, which was their 14th straight at home.
