CATAWBA, N.C. -
East Lincoln (Denver, N.C.) beat
Bandys (Catawba, N.C.) 55-26 on the strength of a superb game by dual threat quarterback
Chaz Surratt, who threw two touchdown passes while running for five more.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by Surratt in the first quarter, the Mustangs led 21-19 at the half.
East Lincoln grew its lead to 22 points entering the fourth quarter. EL scored four times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by Surratt.
The Denver school avenged last year's 26-21 loss to the Trojans with the victory.
The win was a nice bounce back for the Mustangs, who lost to Forestview last week, 44-27. The loss was the third in a row for Bandys.
Bandys (2-3) will play a 2A Conference 3 game against West Caldwell next week, while East Lincoln (4-1) will take on Lincolnton also in a 2A Conference 3 game.
