Carson is 1-9 against Gardena since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Carson Colts will head out on the road to challenge the Gardena Panthers at 4:30 p.m. Carson has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Even though Carson has not done well against Narbonne recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Carson walked away with a 65-55 win over Narbonne. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Carson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ezekiel Harry, who scored 19 points. Another player making a difference was Blake McCall, who scored 19 points.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Gardena's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell to Rancho Dominguez 53-48. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Gardena came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 260th, while Rancho Dominguez is ranked 834th).
Carson's victory bumped their record up to 8-14. As for Gardena, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-8.
Carson ended up a good deal behind Gardena in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, losing 74-59. Can Carson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
