Jade Maya was the offensive standout of the contest as she scored 14 points along with five assists and three steals. Maya set a new season high mark in points with 14. The team also got some help courtesy of Angelina Reyes, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Mercedes lost, one person who can't be blamed is Regina Gaytan. Despite the final result, she scored 16 points.
Mercedes struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
San Benito has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. As for Mercedes, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-5.
