Beckman had lost five straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 0-4 to make it six. They fell 10-7 to the Tesoro Titans. Even though they lost, the Patriots' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.2 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
Alexa Robledo was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Jazmine Cruz was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.
Tesoro's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for their hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
On Tesoro's side, Mollie Kaiser made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Kaiser was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Tesoro let Ellie Buffington and Reese Fraser run wild. Buffington went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base, while Fraser went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three runs gave Buffington a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Salmon, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Beckman will venture away from home to square off against Western Christian at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Fighting Lancers have averaged an impressive 9.8 runs per game this season. As for Tesoro, they will head out to take on Santa Margarita at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 1.2 runs per game this season, so the Titans' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
