Softball Recap: Hollywood Picks Up Ninth Consecutive Victory

Hollywood had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.1 runs) and they went ahead and made it nine on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Contreras Cobras as they made off with a 22-9 win. The Sheiks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by 11 runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Pamela Toledo, who got on base in all six of her plate appearances with three runs. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Eleiyah Layton, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with three runs.

Hollywood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .571 or higher in nine consecutive contests.

Hollywood's victory bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Contreras, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-10.

Coming up, Hollywood will face off against Bernstein at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Sheiks will need to watch out since the Dragons have now posted at least ten runs in their last nine matchups. As for Contreras, they will square off against Robert F. Kennedy Community at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
