Mission Bay scaled the state rankings by moving to 182 from 214 this week, the biggest jump in Western. The Buccaneers were able to move up by defeating Point Loma 26-22.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Madison beat La Jolla 38-14. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
Madison's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Kareem Coles threw for 118 and 1 touchdown and Shaheed Madyun had 46 yards receiving. On the ground Isaiah Osborne contributed 111 yards. Joshua Robinson helped Madison's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 27 yards.
Rick Jackson's team's dynamic duo of Coles and Madyun proved tough for the Vikings to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Robinson helped Madison's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 27 yards.
La Jolla's Collin Rugg and Brandon Bonham have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-3 quarterback Rugg has thrown for 1,908 yards this season, while Bonham has 30 catches for 636 yards. The Warhawks' Kevin Moore leads the league in rushing yards with 964.
Moore of the Madison is just 36 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 94 carries Moore has put up 964 yards this year.
Entering into this week's contest against Kearny, Rugg is short just 92 passing yards to break 2,000 on the season.
An important game coming up in Western this week will be when Point Loma takes on the Warhawks. As it stands, Mike Hastings' team is in third, while Madison is in first.
There should be lots of points scored when the Pointers and the Warhawks face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Point Loma comes in having scored 221 this season, while Madison has scored 369. The Pointers scored 22 points last week as they lost to Mission Bay.
The Warhawks took down the Vikings 38-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. Coles ran for 67 yards during the win.
