Marian Cummings made a big impact no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 3-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Maddie Prevallet looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Sheridan Andrews, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March.
Oak Mountain lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Fairhope got themselves on the board against Northside on Friday, but Northside never followed suit. They came out on top against the Rams by a score of 3-0.
Not much got past Addison Russell, who gave up just a hit to keep Northside off the board.
On the hitting side, Fairhope let Ava Grace Miller and Mallory Earp run wild. Miller went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI, while Earp went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple was Earp's first of the season.
Oak Mountain's win bumped their record up to 18-12. As for Fairhope, their victory bumped their record up to 23-7-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. Oak Mountain hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Fairhope struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Oak Mountain came up short against Fairhope in their previous matchup back in March of 2017, falling 7-3. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
