The Mission Hills Grizzlies will venture away from home to take on the Poway Titans at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mission Hills' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Poway's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
While Mission Hills' win against San Marcos wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Grizzlies skirted past the Knights 9-8.

Leah Llamas was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 5-for-5 with two RBI. Those five hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Lillian Sengsouly was excellent, going 2-for-6 with three runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Kennedy Dimmick also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Poway, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand San Pasqual a 5-0 shutout on Friday.
Like Mission Hills, Poway also got a great game from a two-way player: Mya McGowan. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. McGowan was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sophia Burmeister, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. Alyssa Menges was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs.
Poway's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Mission Hills, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-9 record this season.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Mission Hills hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Poway struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Mission Hills took their victory against Poway when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 6-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Grizzlies since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
