It was a good run, but the Badger Braves unfortunately witnessed the end of their 12-game winning streak on Saturday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 72-47 walloping at the hands of Rootstown. While losing is never fun, Badger can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 243rd, while Rootstown is ranked 69th).
Despite the loss, Badger still got an impressive performance from Gabriella Miller, who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Anja Suhar, who scored three points.
Badger struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Rootstown racked up 13 assists.
It was another big night for Nadia Lough, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds for Rootstown. Lough is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games she's played. Addy Germann was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with two steals.
Badger's defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-2. As for Rootstown, their victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-1.
Badger will take on Windham at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday. As for Rootstown, they will head out on the road to challenge Aquinas at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
