They were a single  set away from ending the streak, but they lost  a   3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the King City Mustangs. The Padres were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Mustangs earlier this season, when they won  3-1.
 Carmel took King City into a fifth set  but they suffered a heartbreaking four-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-20, 25-23, 17-25,  15-11.
 Julie Watkins paced Carmel's offense, picking up 13 kills. Watkins got some help from   Player #14 and her 41 assists.  Lizzie Descalzi controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.
Carmel's record now sits at 11-9. As for King City, they are  on a roll lately: they've  won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record  this season.
 Carmel wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next  contest,  a  3-0  loss against Pacific Grove on the 27th.
