The Westview Warriors will head out to face off against the Prairie Heights Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Tuesday, Westview made easy work of Hamilton and carried off a 14-3 win. The victory continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Marines: they've now won six in a row.
Breanna Garrett was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over four innings pitched. Garrett was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Westview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Prairie Heights, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over Angola on Tuesday. The Panthers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Westview's record now sits at 6-2. As for Prairie Heights, their record is now 7-4.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Westview hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .350. However, it's not like Prairie Heights struggles in that department as they've averaged .327. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Westview skirted past Prairie Heights 9-8 in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
