Doniphan West is 2-8 against Centralia since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Doniphan West Mustangs will head out on the road to take on the Centralia Panthers. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Doniphan West had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They took down Onaga 50-33 on Tuesday. The victory was just what Doniphan West needed coming off of a 62-28 defeat in their prior matchup.
Meanwhile, Centralia waltzed into their match on Friday with five straight wins but they left with six. They enjoyed a cozy 63-47 victory over Valley Heights. Given Centralia's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while Valley Heights is ranked 266th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Doniphan West's win ended a 16-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-12. As for Centralia, they pushed their record up to 12-4 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.
Doniphan West took a serious blow against Centralia in their previous meeting back in January, falling 60-29. Can Doniphan West avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
