Woodlawn is 8-2 against Junction City since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Woodlawn Bears will welcome the Junction City Dragons at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Woodlawn has three straight wins, Junction City has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Woodlawn is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Magnet Cove get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won five matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Woodlawn got a massive performance out of Peyton Wells, who scored three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That's the most runs Wells has posted since back in May of 2024. Tate Hall was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Woodlawn always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .629. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Junction City came up short against Smackover on Thursday, falling 9-3.
Cade Hightower made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI.
Woodlawn's win was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Junction City, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
Junction City's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Woodlawn hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .322. It's a different story for Junction City, though, as they've only averaged .255. Will they be able to contain Woodlawn's hitters?
Woodlawn took their victory against Junction City when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 16-1. Does Woodlawn have another victory up their sleeve, or will Junction City turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
