Mountain View is 9-1 against Clint since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Mountain View Lobos will head out on the road to challenge the Clint Lions at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Mountain View focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 last Tuesday.
Mountain View unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak. They received a tough blow as they fell 49-33 to Riverside. While losing is never fun, Mountain View can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 651st, while Riverside is ranked 160th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jisell Huizar, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played.
Meanwhile, Clint scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They blew past Anthony 68-37 at home. Clint has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 21 points or more this season.
Clint's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aylin Garcia, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds and six steals. Garcia has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Chloe Arredondo, who scored eight points along with 20 rebounds and five assists.
Mountain View's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-7. As for Clint, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-8.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's game: Mountain View have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 4.3 threes per game. It's a different story for Clint, though, as they've been averaging only 3 threes per game. Given Mountain View's sizeable advantage in that area, Clint will need to find a way to close that gap.
Mountain View didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Clint in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, but they still walked away with a 53-47 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Garcia, who scored 23 points along with two steals. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Mountain View still be able to contain him? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
