Baseball Game Preview: Beth Tfiloh Warriors vs. St. Frances Academy Panthers

Beth Tfiloh is a perfect 10-0 against St. Frances Academy since March of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Warriors will be playing in front of their home fans against the Panthers at 3:00 p.m. The last four games Beth Tfiloh has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Beth Tfiloh might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 7-5 to Park School, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Bruins recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for St. Frances Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over Key on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Obezags: they've now won three in a row.

Anthony Mayfield III tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit.

At the plate, St. Frances Academy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Julian Mercer, who went 1-for-2 with one run. Another was Joseph Cooper, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

St. Frances Academy's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-5. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.67 runs across that stretch. As for Beth Tfiloh, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7.

Beth Tfiloh was able to grind out a solid victory over St. Frances Academy when the teams last played back in April, winning 15-12. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
